Creating a home you love doesn’t require a full renovation. Sometimes, small, simple upgrades can make a huge impact!
Today, were sharing some easy DIY home upgrades that anyone can do! Over the past year, we tackled these 10 easy projects—each one made a noticeable difference, and you can do them too!
Let's dive in! :)
1. Install Dimmers for Adjustable Lighting
We added dimmers to our living room and kitchen pendant lights, and now we can control the ambiance at any time of day.
This was long over do... This minor upgrade seriously made us love our home just a little bit more!
2. Upgrade Outdated Ceiling Fans and Light Fixtures
Say goodbye to dated lighting! We replaced old ceiling fans and fixtures with modern, stylish options.
For the fans we got ones that have a remote control and adjustable LED lighting, like this one here. Then we just got simple, but stylish, LED lights for the bedrooms that match our theme
Bonus: Switching to LED bulbs also cut down on our energy costs! Although the electric company has raised the rates, which stinks. But It helps justify the purchase ;)
3. Add a Bunk Bed with Fun LED Lighting

Our son’s room got a major upgrade he's been asking for: a bunk bed. We got him this one from Amazon which has a slide and ladder. He uses the open space underneath as his own little man cave. (Only thing I'll say is, I thought the rail was a little low so we did put a guard on it for peace of mind.)
To make it even cooler (and safer), we added LED strip lighting underneath—instant nightlight and decor boost! He loves it!
4. Transform Garage Mess with Shelving
Cluttered garage? Not anymore! We installed sturdy shelves to organize outdoor toys, tools, bins, and gear, making the space much more organized and functional. The hard part will be keeping it that way. But such is life.
5. Repurpose Old Cabinets into Stylish Storage
Instead of tossing old kitchen cabinets and countertops, we repurposed them for storage. Some have all of our canning goods where another has tools, screws, nails... all that fun stuff.
We rennovated our kitchen early last year and we saved a couple of the old lower cabinets for storage in our basement, garage and laundry room.
You dont need to wait until you remodel your kitchen though, check Facebook marketplace or Craigslist for sometimes FREE ones.
Plus - A budget-friendly and sustainable way to upgrade parts of your home!
6. Refresh Your Space with Houseplants
A touch of green goes a long way. Adding a simple houseplant to the living room instantly brightened the space and brought in a bit of nature.
We also propogated our massive pothos so now we have baby ones we're excited to grow.
7. Organize Outdoor Hoses for a Tidy Yard

No more fighting with the hose (and losing)! We bought this hose organizer, making it easier to water our garden and flowers around the house.
Before we just had a hook which was a pain to put the hose on every day. I thanked the Lord for this thing everyday in the summer.
8. Enhance Your Entryway with a Functional Console Table

We upgraded our entryway table to one with built-in shelves and closed cabinet storage. Now, we have a much better spot to drop keys, charge devices, and keep things organized.
Our previous one was just a narrow entry table with a rack at the bottom. It left so much to be desired. We bought this one on Amazon and we're happy we did!
9. Swap Out Rugs for a Fresh Look

A washable, stylish rug replaced our old jute one, making cleanup easier and giving our space a modern refresh. Game-changer!
Although I will say... we have toddlers so yes, it is already marked up BUT it's washable so we're not totally screwed. We swapped out our jute rug for this one on Amazon.
